View Article  Just Thinking Out Loud Here: Hot Stove Whatnot.
Happy now, Baseball? I swore I wouldn't waste time with hot stove nonsense unless a deal had been made, and now look at me. This whole fixation with you is so humiliating... ... ...I mean, humiliatingly AWESOME. Don't go changin'! Now please, please give me the pitcher and catcher reporting dates already?!   more »
View Article  Is It Too Early To Ask When Pitchers and Catchers Report?
My annual tradition of slogging through the off-season alternately obsessing over and/or trying not to obsess over baseball (or the lack thereof, I suppose), has started early. I'm excited about this post-season -- I really am! --but still I already miss baseball a whole lot. :sigh:    more »

Seriously, I did not see that coming. Especially from those guys! And expecially after that quality start from Pedro! But ok... let's all just walk this off, shall we? What? Didn't work? Walk a little more, then.   more »

Purchased online the night after we lost the 2006 NLCS. It would have been the DAY after, only the store was out of it and I had to order it online instead.   more »
View Article  Open Letter to the New York Metropolitans Baseball Club:
Remember that time when you all shaved your heads and then had all of this great play afterwards? At the time I'd thought that if I were a man I would absolutely have shaved my head, too. Since then, I've been kind-of conflicted, because a REAL fan would have shaved her head, wouldn't she? Even if she's a real girlie-girl who really loves her hair, which by the way is past the middle of her back and really super-awesome. I can't help but wonder if it might have helped with team-spirit and/or longevity if I'd done it. And so, with all of that in mind, I wonder if it isn't too late. Thoughts on this?   more »
View Article  Series Review Quickie: September 14-16, 2007. Mets 0, Phillies 3.
Keystone Baseball! I turned the sound off for a few minutes on Sunday and it was just like watching one of those silent movies about the incompetent policemen who have all manner of wacky mishaps whilst trying to fight crime. Well, almost just like it, except that this version was not nearly as funny as the originals and had baseball players intead of Kops.   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 09/04/07, Mets 11 Reds 7, Perez v. Belisle
5 in a row! It's rather a surprise to remember that we hadn't won 5 in a row yet this season, and I'm sure we'd all like to have just mowed everyone down and have a 20 game lead, etc. but I think there's something to be said for struggling a little. Builds character. So we should have quite a bit of character by now, eh? But all of that aside... Woohoo, lookit Paul LoDuca! And Shawn Green! And Beltran!   more »

Pedro + Offense + the Bullpen NOT blowing it = Win. Hooray! Ah finally, everything is back where it should be... now THIS feels like September. But I confess, even with how awesome Castillo is (and he IS awesome) I kind of miss Valentin, and probably a bit more right now because that's his brother catching for the Reds. We haven't forgotten you, Porn-Stache! Bow-chicka-bow-mowww...   more »

For a minute there I was afraid that I couldn't maintain my perky optimism in the face of that disappointing loss, but -- SURPRISE! -- I found it. Phew, close one! Let's go Mets!   more »

I know I said I'd switch to decaf, but it hasn't worked out yet. Actually, I don't see that working out at all. More caffeine! More agressive martial-arts style fitness routines! Hah! Take that, Padres! :kicks and punches the air all agro-like: Yeah, you KNOW it! Haha, man, what is with me lately?!?! I think it's this whole 'home stretch' thing, and since it's cold and wet out I'm feeling very September-ey and am all revved up about things, you know? Let's go Mets!   more »

What is this, good news/bad news? Yes, we actually had pitching AND offense... all in the same game!!! That is the good news. The bad news, however, is that not only is Paul LoDuca on the DL, but Ramon Castro is hurt now, too. And Mike DeFelice's batting song is nowhere near as cool as LoDuca or Castro's are. Please come back soon, LoDuca and Castro! Please?!   more »

Ok, THIS time I'm REALLY asleep and dreaming that we just lost that @#$%& game, right? RIGHT?? Cuz that was a reeeally bad dream... Paul LoDuca got hurt and everything! I woke up in a cold sweat! It was one of those get-jolted-awake-and-call-out-for-your-mom bad dreams... Only it was real! Oh the horror! :cue scary movie music:   more »

I already knew how lame Lameday is, but still the level of lameness exhibited by this program exceeded all expectations during this game. I got the text message from mlb.com about David Wright's home run before lameday had even showed Castillo's at-bat. Now THAT is lame. Lameday, you've outdone yourselves! :golfclap:   more »
