And not even the usual drunken hooligans fighting amongst themselves (which happens AT LEAST twice during every game I see at Yuckee stadium), but this time it was a very SENIOR 'gentleman' (using the term VERY loosely) attacking a middle-aged, mild mannered, very neatly-attired man who had a small boy with him, of maybe 5-7 years.

I had just remarked how well it was all going (for a Yuckee game), with no brawling hooligans, etc., but clearly I had spoken too soon.  Old Guy is muttering and swearing at Windsor Knot Guy, Windsor Knot Guy is clearly offended, and so very politely and with no profanity, I might add, tells Old Guy to please leave them alone (he used the words 'vile' and 'awful,' nice example for the boy, WKG!).  Tones and volume levels escalate and next thing you know, Old Guy has Windsor Knot Guy BY THE THROAT, right in front of Windsor Knot Guy's very small son.  My trusty Baseball Buddy jumps into the fracas (way to man-up, Baseball Buddy!), everyone is either holding down or pummelling Old Guy, poor Little Boy is crying, Security comes, all involved parties are removed.

So there you have it, yet another show of bad behavior at a Yuckee game.  Baseball Buddy says "oh no, now she has more ammo for going on about how much better it is at Shea and how much better behaved the Mets fans are," but you know he never disagrees with me, that's for sure, because it's all true and he knows it, too.  The nice lady in front of us said to me later, "is it me, or is it barely ever like this at Shea Stadium?"  I replied that I'm a Mets fan (she said she'd noticed from my necklace, nice eye for detail, Nice Lady!), and go to both parks regularly, and no, this kind of thing rarely goes down in Flushing.  When it does, it might bear noting, it is always done in true Yuckee style.  That swearing and chanting with the stupid claps between everything, and sideways-baseball-capped goons in wife-beaters waving their beers around just like they do it in the Bronx.  Sadly, that godawful culture is still a bad influence on ours, even from all the way over there.*

40 Mets Games and 15 Yankee games, on average, per season.  Number of times I've seen a fight at Shea, in close proximity or otherwise; I barely recall ANY, but I'll generously say perhaps a handful, to be fair.  Number of times I've seen a fight at Yuckee, in close proximity AND otherwise; every... single... time.

That ball park is like school on Saturday.  Simply put, it's a complete disgrace... what a shame such a great baseball legacy should be represented in such a way.

Ps. Jeter needs to re-think that fade.  Hey Derek, 1988 called and wants it's buzzer setting back!  (but you're still super-hot... call me!)

*yes, Shea has badly behaved drunks too, but we all know it's not the same thing, so don't even try it.
