He seems like a big, dumb idiot, but whatever, he's one of the very best in the game, and might one day be the greatest of all time, and for this, I love him. Besides, I secretly suspect that at least 75% of them are big, dumb idiots, anyway, we just don't know about it because they rarely get to speak on camera, or get quoted, or similar. I only really care about how the player plays the game, and so for that, I have to say that I do love A-Rod.*
I go to a good amount of Yankee games, more than most Yankee "fans," I'm sure, and am continually mystified by how he plays. Very graceful, with a perfect swing, an agressive style, and real, meaningful effort. Great to watch, and great to watch him making history, GOOD HISTORY, right now, when we can really, really use it.
All of that said, I still didn't care that I missed it; the guy's not even on my team. Let's go Mets!
This was a great game, the Yanks are really rolling along now, and have all but closed the gap on that wild-card spot. I've got loved one's that are Yankee fans, and so for their sake I'm pleased by this. And anyway, they're a New York team, and however much I deplore their fans for being the class-less bums that they are, I do like the Yanks, and would love to see a Subway Series this year.
Lots of base-hits, some good pitching by the home-grown rookie Hughes in only his second start. Go get 'em, kid!
My Yankee "fan" buddy left early, so I relaxed with a beer and listened to the rather disappointing Mets game for a while (John Maine has been outstanding, I'm sure not going to get worked up over one bad start). My team is out of town, so what the hell... baseball is baseball, I'm pretty sure I'll watch any game that's available when I've got the time. I recognize how fortunate I am to live in a town with not one, but TWO, big league teams, and as you can see, I capitalize on that good fortune at every opportunity.
Play. Ball.
Let's go Mets!
* And now, please forgive the digression, but @#$%& @#$%^&, i have to say something about how @#$%& HOT that stupid A-Rod is... it's just unreasonable! why would anyone need to be so physically perfect, i just don't understand! have you people seen his... ? nevermind, i think you can see where i'm going with this... Seriously, sometimes I just have to stare in amazement at how perfectly formed he is. That kind of physical perfection can only come from a combination of great genes, and hard, hard work. I can only imagine how much time he puts into that, but wow, is it worth it. :fans self:
There is a god, and she's a woman, clearly, as Alex Rodriguez and David Wright have proven conclusively. Thank you, Ma'am!
