View Article  Series Review Quickie: September 14-16, 2007. Mets 0, Phillies 3.
Keystone Baseball! I turned the sound off for a few minutes on Sunday and it was just like watching one of those silent movies about the incompetent policemen who have all manner of wacky mishaps whilst trying to fight crime. Well, almost just like it, except that this version was not nearly as funny as the originals and had baseball players intead of Kops.   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 09/04/07, Mets 11 Reds 7, Perez v. Belisle
5 in a row! It's rather a surprise to remember that we hadn't won 5 in a row yet this season, and I'm sure we'd all like to have just mowed everyone down and have a 20 game lead, etc. but I think there's something to be said for struggling a little. Builds character. So we should have quite a bit of character by now, eh? But all of that aside... Woohoo, lookit Paul LoDuca! And Shawn Green! And Beltran!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 09/03/07, Mets 10 Reds 4, Martinez v. Harang
Pedro + Offense + the Bullpen NOT blowing it = Win. Hooray! Ah finally, everything is back where it should be... now THIS feels like September. But I confess, even with how awesome Castillo is (and he IS awesome) I kind of miss Valentin, and probably a bit more right now because that's his brother catching for the Reds. We haven't forgotten you, Porn-Stache! Bow-chicka-bow-mowww...   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: August 22, 2007. Mets 5, Padres 7. Lawrence v. Peavey.
For a minute there I was afraid that I couldn't maintain my perky optimism in the face of that disappointing loss, but -- SURPRISE! -- I found it. Phew, close one! Let's go Mets!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: August 21, 2007. Mets 6, Padres 5. Maine v. Young.
I know I said I'd switch to decaf, but it hasn't worked out yet. Actually, I don't see that working out at all. More caffeine! More agressive martial-arts style fitness routines! Hah! Take that, Padres! :kicks and punches the air all agro-like: Yeah, you KNOW it! Haha, man, what is with me lately?!?! I think it's this whole 'home stretch' thing, and since it's cold and wet out I'm feeling very September-ey and am all revved up about things, you know? Let's go Mets!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 08/12/07. Mets 10, Marlins 4. Perez v. VandenHurk.
What is this, good news/bad news? Yes, we actually had pitching AND offense... all in the same game!!! That is the good news. The bad news, however, is that not only is Paul LoDuca on the DL, but Ramon Castro is hurt now, too. And Mike DeFelice's batting song is nowhere near as cool as LoDuca or Castro's are. Please come back soon, LoDuca and Castro! Please?!   more »

Ok, THIS time I'm REALLY asleep and dreaming that we just lost that @#$%& game, right? RIGHT?? Cuz that was a reeeally bad dream... Paul LoDuca got hurt and everything! I woke up in a cold sweat! It was one of those get-jolted-awake-and-call-out-for-your-mom bad dreams... Only it was real! Oh the horror! :cue scary movie music:   more »

I'm asleep, right? I'm asleep and dreaming that we just lost that game. Phew, that's a relief! I knew there was no way that could've been real...   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 08/09/07. Mets 6, Hated Braves 7. Hernandez v. Smoltz.
I already knew how lame Lameday is, but still the level of lameness exhibited by this program exceeded all expectations during this game. I got the text message from mlb.com about David Wright's home run before lameday had even showed Castillo's at-bat. Now THAT is lame. Lameday, you've outdone yourselves! :golfclap:   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 08/08/07. Mets 4, Hated Braves 3. Hernandez v. Smoltz.
[This space reserved for mercilessly taunting the Hated Braves over this win if we somehow are able to win the next one and take this series. I'd do it now, but don't want to jinx us.]    more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 08/07/07. Mets 3, Hated Braves 7. Perez v. Carlyle.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times... That's right, I went there, cuz I'm badass like that and will use terrible cliches from great, canonical novels if I want to. I also went to this game and, as always, had a brilliant time in spite of the big-time-bummer of a loss. Just when you thought I couldn't get perkier, let's go Mets!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 08/05/07. Mets 8, Cubs 3. Glavine v. Marquis. 300 Wins for Super-Hot Tom Glavine!
Great game! And finally he's got his 300th win... :misty: I don't mind saying that I cried a little last night during that hug-fest on the field following the win. Good god, baseball is awesome.   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: Yuckees 16, Royals 8. Hughes v. Davies.
I was late to the game and missed A-Rod's homer, and was surprised by how NOT disappointed I was to have missed it. If it were one of the Mets I sure would've cared, but then again I'd also have cared enough to be on time, so there you have that.   more »
View Article  Road Trip Review: Orioles v. Yankees, Sunday, July 28, 2007, Camden Yards! Yuckees 10, Orioles 4. Wang v. Cabrera.
Camden Yards is beautiful, just beautiful. Simple, elegant, and seemingly just about the game, for the sake of the game, and nothing else; a very pure baseball park, I might call it. Well-behaved fans, and a real live organist playing the organ, and it was Cal Ripkin's HOF induction day :sniffle:. Gotta' love a good road trip, I tell ya.'   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 07/29/07, Mets 5 Nationals 0, Maine v. Traber.
This was just my kind of game; offensive dominance, defensive prowess, wet baseball players playing in the rain, AND the win in just 5 short innings.   more »
View Article  Day-Night Double-Header Review Quickie: 07/28/07. Mets 1, Nationals 1.
Sure wish I could've been there today! So... :batbat: who's gonna give me their Mets travel mug that I couldn't get because I didn't go to the game? :batbat: I don't have much to offer, but I DO have a Yankee ticket that I won't mind parting with! No, really!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 07/27/07. Mets 2, Nationals 6. Sosa v. Bascik.
Is that the same Sad Sosa photo from last time, or is it new? I've been seeing Sad Sosa photos quite a bit lately, so it's getting hard to tell if they're using a new one or not. But I guess we could save a few bucks that way, right? Just use that one from now on, and take a new one if/when it's Happy Sosa time again. Cuz I guess we might need all the cash we can get if we want to get a new starter. Just in case, yano.   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 07/26/07. Mets 4, Pirates 8. Perez v. Malholm.
I guess I should stop complaining about Lameday, because when it's all you've got, it's just about the greatest thing on the planet. Thanks for the super-craptastic Lameday, MLB!   more »
View Article  Game Review Quickie: 07/24/07. Mets 8, Pirates 4. Maine v. Snell.
Easily one of the most fun games I've attended this season, what a great night! We are looking good here, I say, real good. And how about that John Maine, huh?   more »
