When John Maine first arrived last year, I poked fun at him because his uniform was too big and made him look like a high-school kid, brought in so quickly that there wasn't even time to get him properly outfitted.  But he could sure pitch , and I had the foresight and vision to see that one day he'd become quite a hottie.  Well, that day has come.  Actually, it came a couple/few months ago, but never mind that ...  I've been busy.

I've been holding back on this, but I can hold back no longer, and so now must declare John Maine as the Blue Skies and Baseball MVAP (Most Visually Appealing Player) of the Week.  Way to go, Kid!

And the best part is that he will only keep getting hotter, cuz he still has a liiiiitle bit of that 'aw shucks,' boyish thing going on, which isn't exactly as hot as the big, strong, grown-man thing that he'll grow into soon enough.  Watching him turn into the super hottie that he is/will be, is almost as fun as watching him grow as a ball player.

I was misty when he got his first hit last season, was realllly misty when he pulled off that win in the post-season, and got big-time, SUPER misty last night when he pitched that kickass game AND hit his first Big League home run.  :sniffle:  His stats at the end of the first half were fantastic, and even if he didn't get to go to the All Star game, it was gratifying to hear all of the media buzzing about how he'd been snubbed in the pitcher selection, and now even more gratifying to have him still doing real well as the second half gets under way.  Everyone will have a bad start here and there, but overall, man this kid is kicking ass!

Lookit this; baseball, apple pie, MVAP of the Week, John Maine:

:sigh:  God bless America.
