I know these things often fail horribly, but after seeing the response that Mets fans have garnered in making Keith Hernandez the top vote getter in the AMI Mustache contest purely on write in votes, I have decided to give the old online petition thing a shot.

I present my case in the actual petition but to quickly summarize it, I am basically seeking that the Mets incorporate Mr. Mets family into the scene at Shea. Few people realize that he has a wife and three children. To keep them apart is a crime. Let them come out to Shea and excite the kiddies in attendance all the more so.

I always say that the Mets fan base is a giant family and it only makes sense to have our most visible fan have his family at the games.

To those that think that Mascots and the like only distract from a game, I can only remind you that most 8 year olds don't know how a SLG% is calculated. Loosen the collar and give them a break. We aren't the Yankees after all.
