"Watched" the game on Lameday while at work. At home, this method is decidedly dissatisfying (although the amount of readily available information in it is always appreciated, I must say), however "watching" it at work, where I can't get WFAN and the computer has no speakers (!!!???), it was far more enjoyable. That said, it still sucked, particularly because of how we lost the game after starting it off so strong. Didn't sweep (boo!) but won the series (yay!), I'll take it. Let's go Mets!
I guess it was my fault for getting all happy over Perez' first 5 innings. I wrote it down and everything, thereby securing our defeat at the hands of the legendarily bad Pirates... Sorry, everyone! Here are my notes from while I was "watching" the game:
5 shutout inings and 8 strikeouts, 1-0 Mets, right on! D'oh, tied game! and Nady bats in the go-ahead run... and here's one more... Gah! 3-1 Bucs =( Well, we're down by two runs, but I just got a work assignment that'll keep me gainfully employed through Thanksgiving... Hellooooo Fall tuition, hooray! That, however will not help the Mets here, will it? :sigh: and it was going so well... Perez gives up 5 runs (and counting!) in the 5th... Guess i spoke too soon. Glory halelujah, Schoenweis struck someone out, maybe he's not going to suck today! But of course i don't want to speak too soon again or be all negative about things, so, let's go mets! :sigh: Schoenweis puts 2 on base, Smith gives up the rbi, 6-2 bucs =( aaaand Nady drives another one in, 7-2.... Yeah, now I'm getting a little edgy. Because making up 4 runs over 3 innings was a reasonable idea, but 5? well... not so much. and anyway, now it's 8-2, so... 6? Ok, well good luck with that yous guys. I mean, I've certainly seen you do it before, but it's been a while, hasn't it? It'd be freakin awesome if you can pull it off though, Let's go Mets! Um... ... ... Ok, nevermind. But nice try, everyone, nice effort! Love my team win or lose, yano. =)
I was actually entertained by how lame Lameday was, and particularly how they flash big events in big, flashing text with exclamation points like that. "STRIKEOUT!" "SINGLE!" It's all so exciting!!!
Yeah, not really.
Going to the game tomorrow night for the series opener against the Nationals. Sosa will be pitching, and I guess he has to win a game again someday, so maybe Friday will be that day. :suspense!:
Side-note: Will using the term "Pirates" ever stop being fun? I really don't think so. Nice to know there's something I can count on in the world. Arr!
