Sandals off, feet up, cold beer, cool breeze, nice crowd, Friday night at Shea. Oh, how I love July in New York.
Hooray, Moises Alou is back! When they called his name for his first at-bat everyone cheered for him, but he wasn't actually at the plate yet, so by the time he got there the applause was mostly over. Howie Rose must've missed it because he was wondering on the air if Alou would get a nice hand, and then was all incredulous that he didn't. You missed it, Howie, but it was there. Alou looked good, hitting for extra his first time up, and showing some good defense, too. Welcome back, Guy!
Sosa. Well, yeah, this is troublesome. He started the season strong, and I'm all in favor of giving opportunities for him to make his comeback, but my patience is growing thin and I'm sure I'm not alone in that.
Ryan Zimmerman; troubled AND visually appealing, rowr... There are quite a few cuties on that team, it turns out. Good to know. And our recently-added-to-the-roster-bullpen-boy Adkins adds some value this way too. Just sayin.
My friend who was also at the game, only in good seats much too far away for me to consider going over to meet up, texted to comment that the game was boring. Yeah, I guess it was, but I still had a blast. Go figure.
Side note: Tom Glavine poster in the Mets Magazine, right on!
