I was there at 6. My friends, who had my ticket, did not show up until well after 7, top of the first, 2 on for the Cards. I was. Not. Happy. But I shook it off and led this loveable handful of punctuality-challenged Yahoos into the park.
Them: No, no we have to go into Gate A!
Me: No we don't, just come on...
Them: But...
Me [visibly annoyed but keeping my cool]: TRUST ME.
Happily (?) the park was pretty empty, so although I'd just sat us all down in the first section we came to, nobody came along wanting our seats all night. Lucky them!
Listing to the game, the biggest game of the year, on the FAN, sitting outside of Shea Stadium, made me realize what I knew had been coming for quite some time: I am not fit to go to ball games with other people. There can be no more 'meet me between D and E,' or 'we're in the parking lot near Gate A, by some guys throwing a football,' or walking through the lots on my cel phone saying 'but can you see the brick building? I see a brick building...' or any such shenanigans, any more, ever again. Yep, that's right, I go solo, ticket and hand, and the only place I meet you Yahoos is in the seats. :puts foot down:
But I digress... or do I? Do you really want to hear about that game? What more can be said than already has been? Pedro got it done, everything we could have wanted, and even the bullpen did their job for the most part, but this time it was the offense that was off. Completely off.
I don't want to talk about it. Really, you don't want to hear about it (again). Suffice it to say, that we lost, ok?
And let me just add that I continue to have unwavering faith that we're winning this division. WINNING THIS DIVISION.
Yep, that's right, Let's go Mets!
:suspense!:
